PYK-2101 Retinal Sealant

  • The retinal detachment is repaired in the usual manner and retinal breaks are sealed with laser
  • Instead of injecting gas or oil, PYK-2101 is applied to the site of retinal breaks, forming a solid gel
  • This gel barrier prevents fluid from being introduced to the subretinal space
  • After several weeks, the gel biodegrades and is eliminated from the eye
